Our mission is to empower and enable patient & public involvement in motor neuron disorders research

HighCALS Research Programme – Public Involvement Network

October 2018

The HighCALS research programme is focused on the nutritional management of motor neurone disease. The programme involves a number of separate work packages, which are designed to understand current UK nutritional management services for people with MND, as well as the beliefs of people with MND, carers and healthcare professionals, and to develop behaviour change strategies to support and improve nutritional interventions.

The nutritional support package developed within the programme will then be tested in a randomised controlled trial. If the trial demonstrates the support package to be effective, then this could help to prolong the life of people with MND and improve their daily function and quality of life.

We are keen to involve people with MND and their carers in our HighCALS public involvement network, providing input into the design and delivery of the research across the programme, particularly in terms of the online portal through which the nutritional support package will be delivered.

If you would be interested in finding out more about the network then please contact Dan Beever, HighCALS Programme Manager on d.a.beever@sheffield.ac.uk or 0114 2220820.
